At Palmetto State Transportation, our drivers understand our commitment to safety and professionalism. Our goal is to hire experienced, safe, and courteous drivers to handle our customer’s shipments. Each of our drivers are an extension of Palmetto State Transportation, and our greatest asset.
Driver Requirements:

Class A Local Driver A minimum age of 23 years of age or older. All city tractor-trailer drivers must have two years of verifiable driving experience or a minimum of one-year verifiable driving experience and a diploma from an accredited driving school that Palmetto State Transportation, LLC approves.

Class A Road Driver A preferred age of 23 years or older for Road drivers. All Road Drivers must have 2 years of verifiable over-the-road driving experience (approximate 100,000 miles) or 12 months verifiable over-the-road driving experience and possess a diploma from an accredited driver training school that Palmetto State Transportation, LLC approves.

All drivers must meet the following Guidelines All Drivers must pass an Palmetto State Transportation, LLC driving test administered by an approved Palmetto State Transportation, LLC Trainer or Palmetto State Transportation, LLC Personnel. All Drivers must have Haz-Mat endorsement within 60 days of hire to receive Haz-mat Pay or Sign on Bonus. All drivers must possess only one valid driver’s license issued by the resident state of that driver. Drivers who have recently transferred from another state must produce a copy of the former license or provide CDL information for verification from that state. Drivers will need to provide information on all previous held licenses for the past 36-month period. No record of a driving license suspension or revocation for more than 30 days, covering the 36-month period prior to the order date of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). A suspension for failure to pay and or failure to appear will be considered provided that there was no conviction for driving while suspended during this time period. No record of citation or conviction for the violations listed below during the 60-month period prior to the order date of a MVR. Driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Violation of an “open container” or similar statute. Refusal to take a test provided for by an implied consent law. Reckless homicide or involuntary manslaughter. Operating while under suspension or revocation (Except as Listed Above). Leaving the scene of an accident or hit and run. Speed exhibitions, contests, or drag racing. Conviction for excessive speeding Use of a motor vehicle in the commission of a felony. Assault with a motor vehicle. Reckless driving, careless endangerment, or road rage. Operating a motor vehicle without permission of the owner. Fleeing or eluding a police officer. **Excessive Speeding 15mph or greater on interstate highways whether or not acknowledged by the citation issuing state
VIOLATIONS

No past pattern or record of citations or convictions for more than four (4) motor vehicle violations, (excluding those listed above in items a. through m.), during the 36-month period prior to the order date of the Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) or more than two (2) citations or convictions in the past 12-month period. ACCIDENTS

No past pattern or record of involvement in more than two at-fault traffic accidents while operating a motor vehicle during the 36-month period prior to the order date of the Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Accident 2/36

VIOLATIONS/ACCIDENT

No past pattern or record of involvement in more than two at-fault traffic accidents and no more than two motor vehicle violation during the 36-month period prior to the order date of the MVR. Accident-Violation 2/2 = 4

VIOLATION/ACCIDENT

No past pattern or record of involvement in more than one at-fault traffic accident and no more than three motor vehicle violations during the 36-month period prior to the order date of the MVR. Accident-Violation 1/3 = 4

TOTAL DRIVER PERFORMANCE HISTORY

No record of involvement in more than two at-fault accidents and more than two motor vehicle violations in any vehicle during a 36-month period. Accident-Violation 2/2 = 4
